Move Faster!
Went high speed fast to the southern part of Taiwan-Kaoshiong 高雄 and Kenting 墾丁 on Taiwan's high speed rail. Can't believe it was my first time! Got to Kaoshiong in a little over an hour, it was pretty great. Didn't even get to finish watching a movie on my iPad (Hugh Grant's Rewrite).
Went to the memorial hall/shrine of the Taiwanese/Japanese veterans and enjoyed the view up top of the Harbor.
And rode down the mountain and ended up walking along the harbor...
Somewhere in between, caught a glimpse of founding father Cheng Kai Shek's vehicle brought over from Japan.
Then enjoyed lunch at an all you can eat hot pot place. You get to pick your own soup base and pick whatever items you like from the moving conveyor belt. I picked curry milk soup and it was awesome. Super delicious.
And enjoyed the famous shaved ice... they didn't have mango shaved ice, so I opted for my second favorite, red bean milk. :)
Then, one of the highlights of my trip... Visiting the Confucius temple. Before, I'd ask for wisdom, but a senior once told me not to ask for wisdom because it'll only bring on more trials because you can only gain wisdom through experience. I also learned that the hard way. So, I just went to pay my respects. Look how grand the temple is. I was actually expecting a super huge sculpture of Confucious, but it was a bit more traditional with the small wooden name placards. There were also east and west halls with wooden ancestral/memorials placards for (I think) all of his disciples. It was cool!!!
From there, I saw this view... Just beautiful.
and went to the popular Dragon Tiger Pagodas... So many people, not enough time for a good shot. (The mouths are entrances/exits)
Guan Yin Buddha 觀音菩薩 riding a dragon statue on the water.
Guan Gong 關聖帝君 (關公)on a turtle and snake on the water.
And then caught the HSR back to Taipei...
